Named after Tobias Furneaux' clipper Adventure around 1773. With a population pre-dating European occupation, Adventure Bay is significant as the first encounter with a Eucalypt in 1777, the first European trees grown in Australia, the birthplace of Australian art, a major whaling station, and many other notable achievements and milestones.
